Christmas

Christmas at our house is celebrated in stages: On Christmas Eve we start out with an early light meal and then the 5PM Children's Service at church. This year Kayl gave the closing prayer and was up front for the candlelight ceremony. Here's a couple of short videos:

Next, we have a "smorgasbord" style meal while opening up presents from family around the US. Our tradition is to start with the presents from the person furthest away, and work through them towards home.

Kayl's number one 'wish' from Grandpa Frankie & Grandma Veronica!

Lastly, we check up on Santa's progress online at NORAD's Santa Tracker, leave a treat for the big guy and his reindeer, and head off to bed.

The next day, we open presents from Santa and from each other - it's an all day affair in which we just hang out in our pajamas and enjoy the day and the company. We start off by openning a couple of presents, and then have breakfast. Then open a couple more presents, and then play with them. Then open a couple more, and then have lunch. Then open a couple, and then play some games. Well, you get the idea. We try to space them out so the last couple get openned after dinner and just before bath & bed.
